Did Cisive Background Check Errors Cause You to Lose a Job?

Our consumer attorneys fight against false reporting provided by employment background check companies. Did a Cisive background report cost you a job? We can help.

Who is Cisive?

Cisive is a consumer reporting agency that provides employment screening and verifications for large healthcare, transportation, financial, and tech businesses.

What is in a Cisive Background Check?

When you are applying for a job that uses Cisive as its background check provider, what is included will depend on the type of job and what that company would like to know. Cisive provides background screening, drug screening, and ongoing license monitoring.

A background check from Cisive may include but is not limited to the following:

  • Social Security verification
  • Fingerprinting
  • Employment verification
  • Financial Screening
  • Criminal history
  • Education verification
  • Global background checks

Did Your Cisive Background Check Contain Errors?

An inaccurate employment history or criminal history report can cost you a job. Unfortunately, these types of background check errors happen often. Most commonly, they are due to a mixed file. This means that your background check was mistakenly mixed with another individual’s and that the other person’s criminal or employment history is being reported as yours. Mixed files are usually due to having a name or date of birth similar to the other person. Sometimes, it can even be a family member.

How long does a Cisive Dispute take?

Cisive will have 30 days to look into your dispute. They will need to verify the information that they have is accurate. If they cannot verify the false information, they will need to remove it from your background report. When trying to get employment, 30 days can be a long time to wait for Cisive to correct your background report. If you are filing a dispute, it can be helpful to let the employer know what is wrong with the background check and show them documents that prove it is wrong. Unfortunately, that does not mean they will secure the job for you. If you have lost out on a job or promotion due to errors in a Cisive background check, you may have a case and be able to sue.
