Biography
Pilar Castillo joined the class action practice of Francis Mailman Soumilas, P.C. (FMS) in 2025. Prior to joining FMS, Pilar was Special Counsel to the Supervision Director at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and an attorney advisor at Federal Student Aid working in the Office of Enforcement. Pilar litigates on behalf of consumers harmed by unlawful credit reporting, tenant screening, background checks, and other deceptive and unfair business practices.
Pilar graduated in 2006 from McGill University. She worked as a tenant organizer and a labor investigator in Brooklyn and Queens prior to graduating cum laude from Temple University School of Law in 2011 where she was a Rubin Presser Social Justice Fellow. Pilar began her legal career as an Honors trial attorney at the Solicitor’s Office in Philadelphia where she managed over a dozen administrative and civil court trials and hearings related to wage and hour disputes, health and safety regulations, and unlawful discrimination. Pilar has dedicated her career to fighting for working class people. Pilar is admitted in Pennsylvania and practices in federal district courts throughout the United States.
A native of South America, Pilar lives in Montgomery County with her spouse. She has two children who are currently school aged.
